Turanga Health’s He Oranga Poutama programmes are Sport New Zealand funded initiatives supporting all tamariki, rangatahi and adults be physically active through play, active recreation and sport. The Sport New Zealand Ihi Aotearoa vision is Every Body Active.
As a result Turanga Health’s He Oranga Poutama programmes promote and support the development and implementation of physical recreation and sport in a way that is culturally appropriate to Māori. It has a particular emphasis on: · kaiwhakahāere participating as leaders in their community · increased opportunities for whānau to explore, learn and participate as Māori in sport and traditional physical recreation · revitalisation and further development of sport and traditional physical recreation. He Oranga Poutama programmes run by Turanga Health include guided heritage trails along Gisborne’s rivers and beaches for kids; Tū Pakari physical activity classes; Eke Tū wraparound exercise and lifestyle programme helping whanau manage chronic conditions; Tū Mahi workplace wellness, Tū Mokopuna helping care for our māmā and pēpi, and Takaro Tawhito Māori traditional games. |
