Eke Tū
Eke Tū is for GP-referred whānau with chronic health conditions
Eke Tū is a wraparound programme that gives referred patients an opportunity to improve
fitness, lose weight, and improve their overall physical and mental health. Patients are selected for the four month programme based on their risk factors identified by their referring GP. The programme helps whānau who are showing signs of things like high blood pressure and a high Body Mass Index (BMI), as well as other clinical indicators pointing to challenges ahead. Eke Tū has a strong focus on physical activity. The varied and fun, but safe programme, includes gentle gym sessions, visits to the pool, and plenty of outdoor exercise as well as yoga and relaxation techniques. As well as physical exercise there's a strong educational component teaching whānau to take a leading role in their own care. Eke Tū gives whānau knowledge, skills, and motivation to make good decisions in daily life. The overall programme is monitored by a Turanga Health nurse. Want to know more?
