E Tipu E Rea Hub - Turanga Health
Turanga Health is the referral hub for Māmā and Pēpi services in the district.
Where a child, mother and her whānau have significant social barriers which exceed the what a local health clinician can provide, the clinician can refer the whānau to Māmā and Pēpi. Māmā and Pēpi is a wraparound service that looks at the bigger picture of health and safety for a family. A kaiāwhina will facilitate access to a wide range of resources and support for the woman and her whānau. The Māmā and Pēpi service is provided by Turanga Health, Ngati Porou Hauora, and Te Aitanga a Hauiti Hauora and has been available in the community for a number of years. New funding as part of the E Tipu E Rea framework means the existing Māmā and Pēpi services are now better resourced, have more staff, and have a superior referral system into them. Referrals from health professionals are made via the Bpac referral system or fax to a central hub managed by Turanga Health Hub coordinator Grace Donald. |
