VLC Modules

· Kohi Kai: Food Gathering – Guy Moetara

This programme incorporates planting, maintenance and harvesting of this season’s vegetables plus utilising the natural resources available within Turanganui a Kiwa in the same manner.

- Programme includes: Camping, eeling, cooking, fishing, kaimoana e.t.c

  • Mahi Kai: Cooking – Bernadette Davies

This programme will cover preparing healthy and nutritious meals from set budget, cleaning and Hygienic use of a Kitchen, preparing tradition nutritious Maori Kai.

  • Clay Workz – Denis De Witt

All the aspects of working with clay; from selection of materials, moulding, to firing and glazing. The produced products vary from sculptures, trays to dishes and bowls.

  • Datsuss – Johnny Moetara

This is a combination of different activities and run adjacent to ‘Kohi kai’ module by utilising natural resources also. The programme concentrates on health, fitness and safety (mentally, physically, and spiritually) with the injection of Kaupapa Maori activities & Maori Art Forms & Design for Screen Printing.

  • Numeracy & Literacy:

Concentrated directly as a separate programme to cater for all intellectual diversities.

  • Computers/Gym – Kemara Keelan

Basic computing skill will be covered on Microsoft Office Programs. The Module will also implement a Gym Programme for clients to improve & maintain client Physical Health & Well-being.

  • Light Engineering Programme – Chris Miller

Light repairs and maintenance of machinery i.e. mowers, tools.

(Note) Modules are created to promote and encourage; participation, motivation, communication, confidence and achieving independence.
